U.S. Secretary of Defense Requests Navy Secretary's Resignation
The Pentagon said Sunday that Defense Secretary Mark Esper has requested the resignation of Navy Secretary Richard Spencer, after he lost confidence in his handling of the case of a Navy Special Forces officer accused of war crimes.
"I am deeply disturbed by the conduct of a senior Officer of the Ministry of Defense, unfortunately the result is that Secretary Spencer will no longer have my confidence to continue in his position, i wish Richard all the best," Esper said in a statement.
