Macron warns: The world order in an "unprecedented crisis"

French President Emmanuel Macron said today that the global political system is experiencing an "unprecedented crisis", calling for new kind of alliances and cooperation to solve the world's problems.

Macron's warning came days after an interview with The Economist on Thursday, in which he said nato was in a state of "brain death" and that Europe was in a "high risk of disappearing from the geopolitical map in the future or at least not returning to the masters of our destiny."" European capitals.

"We are living an unprecedented crisis in our international system," Macron said at the opening of the Paris II Forum for Peace, which he established last year.

He stressed the need to find "new ways of cooperation, new alliances" between states and organizations, noting that the United Nations itself has become "paralyzed".

The global political and financial systems that worked so well after World War II are now in crisis, Macron said.

"The regime has been viable for 70 years, but it has allowed new disparities to emerge," Macron said, adding that "a crisis in our democracy has allowed the unilateral approach to be revived."

"We need more cooperation to meet these challenges," he said, calling for the accountability of international bodies.

Chancellor Angela Merkel responded to Macron's remarks about NATO in the interview, saying it was "exaggerated."

In a hint of criticism, Macron said Tuesday that it was essential to speak openly about the problems.

"I think we need the truth," Macron said. Reservation and hypocrisy are no longer useful in our time, because our citizens see it. Inactivity is not a solution."

Macron stressed that he seeks to prevent the world from being divided around two major powers, the United States and China, noting that "the division between some dominant forces breeds disappointments" and cannot continue in the long run.
