Boris Johnson denies using his position when he was Mayor of London for an American businesswoman

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson on Sunday denied allegations that he had abused his position as mayor of London, after reports that a security agency investigating complaints had examined his contacts with an American businesswoman.

In an interview with the BBC today, Johnson said: "I am proud of everything I did when I was Mayor of London."

The statement came ahead of a Conservative Party conference in Manchester.

Prosecutors in London announced on Friday that a security agency was examining Johnson's dealings with US businesswoman Jennifer Arkory when he was Mayor of London from 2998 to 2016.

Arcurie is suspected of receiving preferential transactions, including funding, when Johnson was in office.

"It was perfectly appropriate," Johnson said today. Arcuri, who is based in the United States, also denied the allegations.

The Greater London Authority announced that the Independent Police Conduct Office (which investigates police-related complaints) was currently assessing whether it was necessary to investigate misconduct by the former mayor.

The Greater London Authority stated that there were indications that a crime might have been committed.

The Sunday Times was the first to reveal the charges against Johnson last weekend.
