France announces halt to arms exports to Turkey
The French foreign and defense ministries announced the freeze on all French arms exports to Turkey in connection with its military operation in northeastern Syria.
"Pending an end to this attack, France has decided to freeze all plans to export arms to Turkey, which could be used in this attack," the ministry said in a joint statement.
They added that the decision comes into effect immediately, noting that the Turkish operation in Syria threatens the security of Europe.
Earlier, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and Finland announced the suspension of arms exports to Turkey, which they may use during their military operation against Kurdish units in northeastern Syria.
France has criticized the Turkish operation and called on Ankara to stop it, warning of a humanitarian catastrophe and strengthening IS positions in the region.
