Today.. Robert Mugabe was buried Saturday in his village in rural Zimbabwe

The nephew of former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe announced today that the late leader Willari al-Thawari on Saturday afternoon, after his body was moved from his home in Harare to his village for burial, and Mugabe died in a Singapore hospital earlier this month at the age of 95, nearly two years after the end of a coup d'état Rey for his rule that lasted nearly four decades.

After weeks of debate between the government and his family over his burial place, Mugabe's family chose to bury him in his village of his birth, about 90 km west of the capital.

According to Zimbabwean tradition, the elderly are always buried in the afternoon, so it will take place after 2:00 a.m. local time, his nephew and family spokesman Leo Mugabe told AFP.

"His body (arrived in the village) at around 7:00 p.m. yesterday," Leo Mugabe told AFP.

His body was transported by road on Thursday evening with police and military escorts, according to a video posted on the twitter blog, the second time his body has been returned to his village of Kutama.

When his body was taken to the village last week to allow people to say goodbye, he was flown in a military helicopter.

Justice Minister Ziambi Ziambi confirmed to the official Newspaper The Herald Daily on Thursday that "Mugabe's body has been transferred from Harare to Zvimba pending his scheduled burial on Saturday."

The government of current President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who considered Mugabe a "national hero" wanted to bury him in the "National Square of Heroes", a monument on the outskirts of the capital where the "heroes of the liberation war" lay, and the Mugabe family initially agreed, but suddenly changed their mind on Thursday.
